Rich's Paving handles asphalt paving in Rohnert Park, CA, working out of Petaluma about ten miles south on Highway 101. Richard Stanley is a third-generation paving contractor, and his son works alongside him on the crew today. We have been paving Sonoma County since 1988, and we run our own paving equipment and crew. Rohnert Park is not laid out like other Sonoma County towns, and that changes the work. The city incorporated in 1962 as a planned community, laid out in lettered sections around schools and parks. Street names in each section start with that letter, so an address in the A Section begins with A.
The original sections, A through M, went in mostly during the 1960s and 1970s. Those blocks are ranch homes and split levels on cul-de-sacs, and plenty of the driveways are original. Fifty and sixty years of North Bay weather leaves a mark you can read in the surface. Wet winters soak the clay soil under the pavement, and hot dry summers bake the top layer brittle. The newer parts of town like the K Section University District north of Sonoma State and Willowglen are a different job. There the pavement is young, and the work is usually asphalt sealcoating and small patch repairs.

Most of the driveway work we do here sits east of Highway 101 in the older sections. A 1960s or 1970s tract driveway is usually short, flat and built on a thin base. When that base was never right, the asphalt cracks along the edges first, then the middle sinks. We handle asphalt driveway paving in Rohnert Park, and we start with what sits under the old surface.
Sometimes the old asphalt is sound enough to keep. Then we grind out the broken spots, fix the base and pave over the top. Other driveways are past that point, and the right move is to tear out and rebuild. Asphalt repair costs less than a full replacement, so we tell you which one the driveway needs.
Redwood Drive and Commerce Boulevard carry most of the shopping centers, with the Rohnert Park Expressway running between them. Those lots take steady traffic, and delivery trucks are hard on the surface. Our commercial paving work covers new lots, overlays, striping and ADA stalls. We can pave a lot in phases so the business keeps running.
We also pour concrete where asphalt is the wrong material for the spot. Concrete driveways, walkways and ADA ramps go in here the same as they do in Cotati and Santa Rosa. Apartment properties often need both, with asphalt in the parking bays and concrete at the walks. We handle both parts of the same site.
