Rich's Paving handles asphalt paving in Tiburon, CA, out on the peninsula where two thirds of the town is actually water. We are based in Petaluma, about 31 miles up Highway 101, and Tiburon Boulevard carries us the last stretch. Richard Stanley is a third generation paving contractor, and his son works alongside him, the same way Richard worked beside his own father. The family has paved since 1988, and driveway work is the heart of what we do.
Tiburon grew up as a railroad and ferry town from 1884, and the old railyard became the Point Tiburon homes and shops after it closed in 1967. Today the peninsula is quiet streets, ridge line view lots, and waterfront homes. Driveways off Paradise Drive and up in Bel Aire and Cypress Hollow climb real grades to reach their garages. Out at Paradise Cay, a 1960s waterfront community built over the bay, homes sit on made ground where settling shows up in the flatwork. Different ground, different builds, and we price each one on what is actually there.

A long Tiburon driveway is the first thing guests see and the last thing owners think about until it cracks. We rebuild them from the base up: grade, compacted rock, then hot mix asphalt rolled tight, with edges shaped by hand. On ridge lots the drive doubles as the drainage path for the hillside above, so we shape grading and drainage in Tiburon to move water off the pavement and away from the house.
Tiburon sees about 26 inches of rain a year, nearly all of it November through March. Winter proves whether a driveway was built right. Slopes that need holding get retaining walls built along the drive, faced to match the property. Where pavement is aging but sound, sealcoating a Tiburon driveway keeps the sun off it for a fraction of replacement cost.
Plenty of Tiburon owners want concrete where the driveway meets the house. We pour concrete driveways and aprons in Tiburon, plus walkways and garage pads, formed and finished by our own crew. For outdoor living space, stamped concrete patios carry a stone look that fits the setting without the upkeep of pavers we do not install. Asphalt for the run, concrete at the entry is a combination we build often.
Commercial work here is small and visible: the lots behind Main Street and Ark Row, The Cove shopping center in Bel Aire, and HOA parking off Tiburon Boulevard. We patch with asphalt repair, restripe, and overlay in phases so shops and residents keep access. The town's one road in and out means staging gets planned, not improvised.
